| 20 members enjoyed a socially distanced visit to St John's School in Sidmouth |

Liz Gray organised the first visit this year to St John's in Sidmouth. We were greeted with cake and coffee and then taken on a fascinating tour of the grounds and chapel by the headmaster. We were given a recital from the organist who rescued the organ from a church in Bristol which was closing and installed it at the school when he was the music teacher. |

| Young Arts Award |

Lady Anne Boles, chairman, presents awards to pupils of Honiton Community College at The Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton. Thanks to a grant of £250 from The Arts Society Honiton the pupils were able to undertake two workshops as the first step of their Arts Award. During the workshops at the gallery, the group created an artwork with renowned paper artist Sophia Clist. They created paper sculptures in response to the exhibition On Paper - an Arts Council Collection Touring Exhibition. These artworks were then exhibited in THG’s exhibition Paper Play (25 May – 22 June). The students completed four parts to the award: exploring the arts as a participant, reviewing an Arts event, describing their Arts inspiration and sharing a skill. 5 students achieved the Bronze award : Amelia Ford, Aleisha Offer-Hoar, Hannah Empson, Sarah Patch and Maicey Bennett. Four of the students are now Year 8 and one student in year 9. They are all studying the KS3 curriculum and one student is going on to take a Fine Art GCSE. |
