Our Church Trail is Handed Over

After months of planning, drawing, researching and battling with desktop publishing our Church Trail was finally handed over to Alastair McCollum at St Michaels & All Angels Church in Stockland.  Guided by the The Arts Society and with a great deal of help from Tim Phillips with photography, Paul Redvers with IT assistance, and various friends and their children who carried out ‘test runs’ and finally Frances Moule from The Arts Society, we produced a fun trail booklet to encourage local children to view their village church in a little more depth.  In the main aimed at those between 8-12 years, but hopefully fun for those considerably older too, it encourages drawing, writing, counting and the imagination, with a separate sheet for accompanying adults that offers a little added information, as well as the answers!

The trail guides the participants round the church looking at the architecture, history and furnishings.  It is hoped that it will be enjoyed by local families, visitors to the church, children’s groups, clergy, and staff and their pupils at Stockland C of E Primary Academy.  The aim is to encourage both children and adults to explore the building, to learn a little more about it and to enjoy the experience so they are inspired to visit other churches.
